PHIF 2004 Funding

The Haldimand and Norfolk Community Alliance to Promote Homeness is seeking proposals for funding to develop effective programs to meet the needs of the homeless in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties in three areas:

Moving people from the streets to emergency accommodation;
Moving people from emergency to permanent accommodation;
And preventing homelessness by supporting the retention of permanent accommodation.

In order to address the issue of homelessness, the communities of Haldimand and Norfolk have established the Community Alliance to Promote Homeness (formally known as the Haldimand-Norfolk Task Force on Homelessness). The Community Alliance was formed in 1999 by the Regional Council of Haldimand-Norfolk.

The mandate is to identify, quantify and address the issues of homelessness and ensure the provision of services to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The Community Alliance is comprised of a number of interested representatives in the community including housing providers, community agencies and municipal, provincial and federal government agency representatives.

Applications must:

Follow the PHIF mandate;
Have a clear and measurable benefit to the Counties;
Be incorporated in Canada as a non-profit organization or a registered charity;
Have an administrative infrastructure to support its organizational objectives;
Follow appropriate financial management policies and practices;
Show evidence that the program is accessible to Haldimand and Norfolk Counties residents.

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the Evaluation form that is enclosed.
