Together
we can make a difference
The
Provincial Homelessness Initiative Fund (PHIF) assists individuals and
families living on the streets or at risk of becoming homeless, by
locating emergency shelters and getting them permanent housing, with the
assistance of other community agencies, housing providers, municipal,
provincial and federal government agency representatives. This fund is to
find short and long term solutions for the homelessness problem within
Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. The Community Alliance Force (formally
known as the Homelessness Task Force) was established in 1999.
The
2005
partnering agency is The
Salvation Army Family and Community Services of Dunnville serving both
Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. The
Haldimand and Norfolk Counties Rent/Utility Bank and Housing Advocacy
Program (For Families) offers families help with budgets, landlord and
utility mediation and also offers repayable loans for rent and utility
arrears and deposits to those who
are at risk of losing their homes or accommodations.
Each
year in the fall we invite all service agencies within Haldimand and
Norfolk Counties to submit an application for funds to develop new or
expand existing programs that address the homelessness problem. Please
contact
us if you would like to be included in our application process. For
more information on the Provincial Homelessness Initiative Fund and other
services related to social housing please visit the Social
Housing Division of the Health & Social Services Department. |
