Learning Earning & Parenting Program focuses on parents under the age of 22 who have not graduated from high school and are eligible for Ontario Works assistance.

Learning – focuses on your educational needs that will lead you towards your high school diploma. Your high school diploma is an important requirement for employment, is needed to further your education and provides a solid basis for better paying employment.

Earning – prepares you for the workforce through developing employment skills which may include co-op programs, employment review, career counselling, job search workshops and community participation.

Parenting – requires you to take part in programs that improve your parenting skills and promote child development. During these parenting and child development activities you will learn about parent/child bonding, nutrition, health and safety, household management, family planning, etc.

Financial assistance is available for you to cover personal school related expenses such as school supplies, school clothing, educational trips, counselling and transportation costs. Children of LEAP participants will be considered high priority when assessing child care services and this program will cover daycare costs.

When you successfully graduate from high school and complete the required amount of parenting courses you will receive a $500 payment. These funds must be used by you for further training or education or held in trust for your child’s education.
